How to Request a File Restore

Accidentally deleted or overwritten a file? Don’t worry — if you're covered by one of Fusion IT’s backup solutions, we can usually recover it quickly and securely. Here's how to request a restore and what to expect.

What Can Be Restored

Depending on your backup setup, we may be able to recover:

  • Individual files or folders from servers or backed-up workstations

  • Shared drive or departmental folders

  • Previous versions of files

  • Microsoft 365 data (emails, OneDrive, SharePoint files, etc.)

However, files may not be recoverable if:

  • They were deleted a long time ago, and your backup retention period has passed

  • They were stored in a location that isn't backed up, such as a local-only folder on a device not covered by your plan (e.g. Desktop or C:\ drive of a personal machine)

We’ll always do our best to recover what we can — but recovery depends on what’s included in your backup plan and how long the data has been missing.

What We Need to Restore a File

To help us find the correct version as quickly as possible, please provide:

  • File or folder name

  • Where it was stored (e.g. Shared drive, OneDrive, Documents folder)

  • When it was last known to be correct or accessible

  • Whether it was deleted or overwritten

  • Any other versions you’d like recovered, if available

The more specific the information, the quicker we can assist.
