Printing from Software Doesn’t Work – What to Try First

If a document won’t print from Outlook, Word, Adobe, or any other software, try the steps below before calling support.


1. Check Printer Selection

  • Make sure the correct printer is selected in the print dialogue

  • If printing to PDF by accident, choose your physical printer instead


2. Restart Printer and PC

  • Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds

  • Restart your computer

  • Turn the printer back on and try again


3. Clear Stuck Print Jobs

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners

  • Select your printer > Open Queue

  • Cancel any documents stuck in the list

  • Try printing a test page


4. Save and Print From Another App

  • Save the file as a PDF and open it in another app (e.g. Adobe Reader)

  • Try printing from there — this rules out an app-specific issue


5. Try Printing From Another Device

If a colleague can print the same document without issue, the problem may be specific to your PC. Let us know so we can investigate further.
