If a program crashes as soon as you open it or keeps freezing mid-task, here are some simple steps to try before raising a support request.
1. Check If It Happens to Just You
Try opening the same app on another device or user account
If the issue is isolated to your profile or PC, it’s likely a local issue
2. Launch the App in Safe Mode (If Available)
Office Apps: Hold Ctrl while opening Word or Outlook to launch in Safe Mode
This disables add-ins and extensions that might be causing the crash
3. Clear Local Cache or Temporary Files
Some apps (like Teams or Adobe) store cache files that can get corrupted
Clearing these out can resolve unexpected crashes
We can assist with safe deletion if you’re unsure where to find them
4. Use Built-In Repair Tools
For Microsoft Office:
Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features
Select Microsoft Office, then click Change > Quick Repair
For other apps, check if the software vendor provides a repair or reset function.
5. Capture the Error Message or Screenshot
If an error message pops up, take a screenshot or copy the message. This will help us diagnose the issue more quickly when you contact support.
If the app still crashes after trying these steps, we’re ready to help.
