If your PC or laptop won’t power on, don’t panic — it’s often a simple fix. Before raising a ticket, try these steps to rule out common causes.
1. Check the Power Source
Make sure the power cable is firmly connected at both ends
Try another plug socket or power strip
If using a laptop, confirm the power adapter is working and the charging light is on
2. Remove the Battery (If Applicable)
Unplug the device
Remove the battery (if it's removable)
Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds
Reconnect the battery and charger, then try powering on again
3. Look for Signs of Power
Do any LED lights flash, fans spin, or keyboard lights blink?
If the screen stays black but there’s power, try connecting to an external monitor to check for display issues
4. Try a Hard Reset
Disconnect all peripherals (USB drives, printers, external displays)
Hold the power button for 10–15 seconds
Wait a few seconds, then press it again normally
5. Test With Another Power Adapter or Charger
If possible, test with a known working charger
On desktops, try a different power cable or kettle lead
If your device still won’t power on, we can take a closer look.
