If you’re not hearing sound from your PC or laptop, it could be a simple configuration issue. Try these quick checks before contacting support.
1. Check the Volume and Mute Settings
Make sure the system volume isn’t muted
Click the speaker icon in the taskbar and drag the volume slider up
Press the mute key on your keyboard if it has one
2. Verify the Output Device
Right-click the speaker icon > Sound settings
Ensure the correct output device is selected (e.g. speakers, headphones, HDMI monitor)
Try switching between available options
3. Disconnect Headphones or External Audio
If headphones are plugged in, your speakers may be disabled
Unplug any USB or 3.5mm audio devices and check again
4. Restart Your Device
Reboot your computer — this often resolves stuck audio drivers
After restarting, test with a YouTube video or sound file
5. Run the Built-In Audio Troubleshooter
Go to Settings > System > Sound
Scroll down and click Troubleshoot
Follow the prompts to detect and fix common issues
Still no sound? It could be a driver or hardware issue — we’re happy to take a look.
